Transmitted herewith is a Resolution authorizing the Purchasing Agent to issue a purchase order
to Engineered Controls to furnish and install security cameras and a monitoring system at the
Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge Plaza for the Parks, Recreation and Public Property Depas Client.
A price quote in the amount of$23,890.00 was received from Engineered Controls. They are the
sole source supplier for this security monitoring system and cameras to connect to the existing
security system at the Omaha Douglas Civic Center. The Parks, Recreation and Public Property
Department recommends that the bidding procedures be waived in accordance with Section 5.16
of the Home Rule Charter of 1956.
The Contractor has on file a current Contract Compliance Report Form. As is City policy, the
Human Rights and Relations Department will review the contractor to ensure compliance with
the Contract Compliance Ordinance.
The Finance Department is authorized to pay the cost of the purchase of the security cameras and
monitoring system from Fund No. 13433, Missouri River Pedestrian Bridge and Organization
No. 131762, Omaha Missouri River Pedestrian Bridge.

The Parks, Recreation and Public Property Department recommends the acceptance of the bid
from Engineered Controls in the amount of $23,890.00 and requests your consideration and
approval of this Resolution.

WHEREAS, the Parks, Recreation and Public Property Department desires to install
security cameras and a monitoring system at the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge Plaza; and,
WHEREAS, a price quote was submitted by Engineered Controls for the purchase and
installation of this system and cameras; and,
WHEREAS, Section 5.16 of the Home Rule Charter states that competitive bidding will
not be required when purchasing unique items; and,
WHEREAS, this vendor is the sole source provider to connect into the existing security
system at the Omaha/Douglas County Civic Center; and,
WHEREAS, the Parks, Recreation and Public Property Department recommends
acceptance of the price quote in the amount of$23,890.00 for the purchase and installation of
these cameras and this monitoring system.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OMAHA:
THAT, as recommended by the Mayor, the Purchasing Agent be authorized to
issue a Purchase Order to Engineered Controls for the purchase and installation of a security
system and cameras for the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge Plaza, located on the City of Omaha
Riverfront, in the amount of$23,890.00; and that the Finance Department is authorized to pay
the cost of this purchase from the Missouri River Pedestrian Bridge Fund No. 13433 and
Organization 131762, Omaha Missouri River Pedestrian Bridge.
