Transmitted herewith is a Resolution authorizing the Purchasing Agent to issue a purchase order
to the Qwest Communications for the relocation of underground communications utilities. The
communication lines are within the street reconstruction project known as OPW 50344, 132"a.
Street from Patrick Street to Birch Street.
Qwest Communications needs to relocate communication utilities in this area and is the only
entity authorized to move its own utilities. The Public Works Department recommends that
bidding procedures be waived in accordance with Section 5.16 of the Home Rule Charter of
1956.
The estimated cost to relocate the underground utility lines is $119,749.92 which will be paid
from the 2006 Transportation Bond Fund 13182, 2009 Issue Transportation Bond Organization
117114, with 80% of this cost eligible for reimbursement from the Nebraska Department of
Roads according to the program agreement for Federal Aid Project STPC-5003(8) accepted by
City Council Resolution No. 1193 on October 17, 2006.
The Public Works Department requests your consideration and approval of the attached
Resolution.

Dear Mr. Meyer,
After surveying the location, our Engineering Department has determined that we will need
to move fiber cable and service wire facilities along the west side of N 132 St from Erskine
to Miami for your construction project in Omaha,Ne.
Before we may begin the Excess Construction, it will be necessary for you to agree to the
following terms for facility placement. Your portion of the expense will be$119,749.92.
The Nebraska State Tariff states that when customers apply for service changes and the
costs to provide that service are inordinate the customer will be responsible for these costs
in the form of material and labor. Work will consist of digging 1 pit, placing 2000' of 12
fiber cable, placing a total of 4000' of coax cable,placing 6500' coax service wire and
6500' of copper service wire, and perform associated splicing, cutover, and circuit testing.
Placing methods will include joint bore with OPPD for 1800', 3200' of single bore for
placement of service wire, and backhoe and labor to dig up, expose and move sections of
fiber cable. Material costs are $16,179.97 and labor costs are $103,569.95.
If we do not hear from you within thirty days it will be assumed that you are no longer
interested in the service and the order will be cancelled. Please be advised that this quote is
good for 30 days only.
If you have any further questions on this matter, would like to forward with the project, or
would like a contract forwarded to you to have the work completed I can be reached at 402
572 5878. Construction will take place approximately thirty(30) days after receipt of the
contract and payment.

Dear Mr. Meyer,
After surveying the location, our Engineering Department has determined that we will need
to move fiber cable and service wire facilities along the west side of N 132 St from Erskine
to Miami for your construction project in Omaha,Ne.
Before we may begin the Excess Construction, it will be necessary for you to agree to the
following terms for facility placement. Your portion of the expense will be$119,749.92.
The Nebraska State Tariff states that when customers apply for service changes and the
costs to provide that service are inordinate the customer will be responsible for these costs
in the form of material and labor. Work will consist of digging 1 pit,placing 2000' of 12
fiber cable,placing a total of 4000' of coax cable,placing 6500' coax service wire and
6500' of copper service wire, and perform associated splicing, cutover, and circuit testing.
Placing methods will include joint bore with OPPD for 1800', 3200' of single bore for
placement of service wire, and backhoe and labor to dig up, expose and move sections of
fiber cable. Material costs are $16,179.97 and labor costs are $103,569.95.
If we do not hear from you within thirty days it will be assumed that you are no longer
interested in the service and the order will be cancelled. Please be advised that this quote is
good for 30 days only.
If you have any further questions on this matter, would like to forward with the project, or
would like a contract forwarded to you to have the work completed I can be reached at 402
572 5878. Construction will take place approximately thirty(30) days after receipt of the
contract and payment.

RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OMAHA:
WHEREAS, there are underground communications lines located within the street
reconstruction project known as OPW 50344; 132nd Street from Patrick Street to Birch"Street;
and,
WHEREAS, Qwest Communications needs to relocate communications utilities in this
area and is the only entity authorized to move its own utilities, the Public.Works Department
recommends that the bidding procedures be waived in accordance with Section 5.16 of the Home
Rule Charter of 1956; and,
WHEREAS, the cost to move the specified communications utilities is estimated to be
$119,749.92 which will be paid from the 2006 Transportation Bond Fund 13182, 2009 Issue
Transportation Bond Organization 117114; and,
WHEREAS, 80% of the City's share of the utility relocation cost is eligible for
reimbursement from the Nebraska Department of Roads according to the program agreement for
Federal Aid Project STPC-5003(8) accepted by City Council Resolution No. 1193 on October
17, 2006.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF OMAHA:
THAT, as recommended by the Mayor, the Purchase Order to Qwest Communications in
the amount of $119,749.92 to move underground communications utilities located within the
street reconstruction project known as OPW 50344; 132nd Street from Patrick Street to Birch
Street, is hereby approved.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED:
THAT, the Finance Department is authorized to pay $119,749.92 from the 2006
Transportation Bond Fund 13182, 2009 Issue Transportation Bond Organization 117114 with
80% of the City's share being eligible for reimbursement from the Nebraska Department of
Roads according to the program agreement for Federal Aid Project STPC-5003(8) accepted by
City Council resolution No. 1193 on October 17, 2006.
