The City is also exploring the possibility of purchasing additional E85 and Compressed Natural Gas vehicles to further reduce the impact of the . City's carbon footprint. This project not only aligns with the City's current strategies to minimize diesel emissions, but also sets an example for future efforts. 2. Technology Employed by Project Please provide a description of which technology will be employed in project(e.g.,diesel oxidation catalysts, auxiliary power units, engine/vehicle replacements including make/model/year). The City of Omaha will purchase EPA verified low rolling resistant tires which are designed to improve the fuel efficiency of a vehicle by minimizing the energy wasted on heat as the tire rolls down the road.According to greenseal.org, 80 percent or more of a vehicle's fuel energy is wasted by friction and other such losses. The City's proposed project is an effort to reduce this waste and increase the fuel efficiency of the proposed vehicles. The City will purchase Bridgestone low rolling resistant tires, as verified by the EPA, with the following specifications: Drive Truck Steer Tire Steer Cost Drive Tire Cost per Number Department Size per truck Size truck Public 30710 Works 11R22.5 $640.00 11R22.5 $2,832.00 Public 30712 Works 11R22.5 $640.00 11R22.5 $2,832.00 Public 30752 Works 11R22.5 $640.00 11R22.5 $2,832.00 Public 30753 Works 11R22.5 $640.00 11R22.5 $2,832.00 Public 31224 Works 11R24.5 $700.00 11R24.5 $3,048.00 Not T0021 Fire 315/80R22.5 Available 295/75/22.5 $2,600.00 Not T0034 Fire 315/80R22.5 Available 295/75/22.5 $2,600.00 Not T0041 Fire 315/80R22.5 Available 295/75/22.5 $2,600.00 Not T0044 Fire 315/80R22.5 Available 295/75/22.5 $2,600.00 Not T0061 Fire 315/80R22.5 Available 295/75/22.5 $2,600.00 Not T0063 Fire 315/80R22.5 Available 295/75/22.5 $2,600.00 7/31/2009 City of Omaha—Public Works—Nebraska Clean Diesel Grant Program Application Page 3 of 5 hall insert a similar provision in all sub-contracts for services to be covered by any Inter-Governmental Agreement resulting from this Inter- Governmental Agreement. 0.
