and Members of the City Council,
The purpose of the attached Resolution is to suspend the closing hours at Lake Cunningham,
8305 Rainwood Road, Omaha, Nebraska, to accommodate the overnight security for the 1st
Omaha Triathlon,to be held on Sunday, August 1, 2010.
The Director of the Parks, Recreation and Public Property Department is authorized pursuant to
Section 21-1 of the Omaha Municipal Code to establish rules regulating the use of parks within
the City of Omaha which become binding provisions of the Omaha Municipal Code upon
approval by resolution of the City of Omaha.
Your approval to suspend the curfew at Lake Cunningham between 11:00 p.m. on Saturday, July
31, 2010 and 5:00 a.m. on Sunday August 1, 2010, is therefore requested.

RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OMAHA:

WHEREAS, the Director of the Parks, Recreation and Public Property
Department is authorized pursuant to Section 21-1 of the Omaha Municipal Code to establish
rules regulating the use of parks within the City of Omaha which become binding provisions of
the Omaha Municipal Code upon approval by resolution of the City Council; and,
WHEREAS, various rules have been so established including rules specifying
closing hours; and,
WHEREAS, PayPal, Blue Cross & Blue Shield along with the Omaha Sports
Commission would like to host the 1st Omaha Triathlon on August 1, 2010, at Lake
Cunningham, 8305 Rainwood Road, Omaha,Nebraska; and,
WHEREAS, it has been requested that the park closing hours be suspended
between the hours of 11:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 31, 2010 and 5:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 1,
2010, to accommodate the overnight security for this event; and,
WHEREAS, the Director of the Parks, Recreation and Public Property
Department has approved the suspension of the park closing hours on those days only for this
event; and,
WHEREAS, the Mayor has recommended approval of this request.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF OMAHA:
THAT, as recommended by the Mayor, the park closing hours will be suspended
at Lake Cunningham, 8305 Rainwood Road, Omaha, between 11:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 31,
2010 and 5:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 1, 2010, to accommodate the overnight security, for the
1st Omaha Triathlon hosted by PayPal, Blue Cross & Blue Shield along with the Omaha Sports
Commission.
