The City Council approved on September 30, 1997, by Resolution No. 2735, an 11:00 p.m. curfew at Memorial Park. Your approval to suspend the curfew at Memorial Park between 11:00 p.m. on Friday, September 17, 2010 and 5:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 18, 2010, to accommodate setup for this event is therefore requested. Handbook 1344.1 09) Page 3 of 5 ref.Handbook 1344.1 4010(06/2009) Page 2 of 5 ref..Handbook 1344.1 C-25A CITY OF OMAHA LEGISLATIVE CHAMBER Omaha,Nebraska RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OMAHA: WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of Section 21-1, Omaha Municipal-Code, the Director of the Parks, Recreation and Public Property Department established rules regulating the use of parks within the city which were then approved by Resolution of the City Council; and, WHEREAS, one such rule established the hours during which Memorial Park would be closed(from 11:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.), which rule was approved by the City Council by Resolution on September 30, 1997; and, WHEREAS, the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 279 would like to conduct an overnight vigil event, to honor the American POW/MIA's, in Memorial Park on September 17, 2010; and, WHEREAS, it has been requested that the park closing hours be suspended between the hours of 11:00 p.m. on Friday, September 17, 2010 and 5:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 18, 2010, to accommodate the setup for this event; and, WHEREAS, the Director of the Parks, Recreation and Public Property Department has approved the suspension of the park closing hours on those days only for this event; and, WHEREAS, the Mayor has recommended approval of this request. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OMAHA: THAT, as recommended by the Mayor, Memorial Park, 6005 Underwood Avenue, Omaha, Nebraska, shall be open to accommodate the set-up and overnight vigil honoring American POW/MIA's by the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 279 from 11:00 p.m. on Friday, September 17, 2010 to 5:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 18, 2010.
