Parkway from Storz Expressway west to 56th Street.

right-of-way identified as Storz to North Freeway to Sorensen Mowing, being Storz
Expressway from Abbott Drive to Sorensen Parkway, North Freeway from Sorensen

providing for the payments from appropriations of more than one year in accordance with.
Section 5.17 of the Home Rule Charter of 1956 as amended; to authorize the Purchasing
Agent to issue a purchase order; and to provide an effective date hereof.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OMAHA:

Re: Right of way mowing bids
The City opened bids on November 25 for right of way mowing. There were 8 separate contracts and
we received bids from 10 separate contractors.The Contracts are for a period of two years.
We have two low bidders. Team Green was low bidder on 6 of the contracts and Reese Enterprises
was the low bidder on 2 contracts.We have not worked with these contractors in the past.
This year I am recommending that we award contracts to more contractors than the two low bidders.
Last year we had one contractor that had 80 percent of the contracts. It became very difficult for the
contractor to complete the work and in many cases areas went un-mowed for weeks.Also,the bids we
received are less than last year's bids.The contractors we had last year expressed to us that they were
unable to mow these areas at the unit prices they bid. I am recommending awarding contract to 5
companies. The 3 additional contractors bids were second lowest. By doing this, no one contractor will
be responsible for the majority of the work which caused most of the problems last contract.
I would award contracts as follows
• Area 1 Navarro at an annual cost of$30,685.60
• Area 2 Team Green at an annual cost of$22,861.44
• Area 3 Ross Lawn at an annual cost of$28,749.60
• Area 4 Team Green at an annual cost of$67,094.72
• Area 5 Nebraska Best Lawn at an annual cost of$30,409.40
• Storz-North Freeway-Sorensen Team Green at an annual bid of$34,702.08
• • W Dodge-Maple St Reese Enterprises at an annual cost of$23,388.16

Dear Mr. Corbett,
Section 10-110 of the Omaha Municipal Code allows a Department Director to reject bids
because items on the bid received were non-compliant with the specifications. This letter is.to
serve as written notice that your bid for the City of Omaha Ground. Maintenance (8 ROWs) is
rejected because it is not compliant with the specifications for the project.
Section 10-110 OMC also provides: "Within ten days after a bid is rejected, any rejected bidder
may appeal to the city council by filing with the city clerk a written objection stating all the
reasons for the objection."
