Johnson, Carman (CCIk) From: lelliottmk@cox.net Sent: Tuesday, June 21, 2011 10:13 AM To: Johnson, Carman (CCIk) Subject: new bar Dear Buster Brown, As a person living in the Crescent Oaks subdiviision, I was very upset to learn of the proposed new bar at the 148th and Center location. Our neighborhood would very much welcome new business to our area; however, another bar so close to the Observatory Lounge seems unnecessary. I believe it would also bring more "fast"traffic on Hascall St. (where I reside),which has been a problem our citizens have battled for years. Please hear our concerns on this matter and do what you can to stop this from happening. Sincerely, Linda Elliott 14707 Hascall St. 1 Johnson, Carman (CCIk) From: Dan Kane <dmkane@cox.net> Sent: Tuesday, June 21,2011 9:42 AM To: Johnson, Carman (CCIk) Subject: Liquor license"Hooligans" My name is Daniel Kane and I live in the Crescent Oaks subdivision. I am requesting that the Liquor License for Hooligans 2705 S 148th Street be denied. This property is located at one of our entrances to our neighborhood and I feel it would be too close to the residences of the subdivision. I also believe parking will be an issue. The former use of this property was a gas station/convenience store and does not have that many parking spaces. The property is adjacent to 148th Street and Wright Street which would not work for overflow parking causing customers to potentially park in the neighborhood. If overflow vehicles do park on Wright and 148th Streets, this would clog those streets and potentially cause a public safety hazard for neighbors coming into the neighborhood and public safety vehicles. I feel this bar would not be compatible with the neighborhood. Please consider denying this license or at least investigate the parking issues and proximity to our neighborhood.. I do not want another bar in the neighborhood. I live at 2904 S 146th St Omaha NE in the Crescent Oaks subdivision. I am a member of the Crescent Oaks Citizen Patrol. I patrol the neighborhood on a regular basis. It is a nice family area. Once a year we have a Crescent Oaks neighborhood family picnic. There is another bar called the Observatory within a block of 2705 S 148th St. We can hear the noise from the Observatory on weekends and the new bar would be even closer to the residents of Crescent Oaks. This building is a very small building with a very small parking lot. The patrons will be parking in the streets that I patrol. We do not need another bar in our neighborhood. The Crescent Oaks Citizen Patrol has just found out about the bar today on 6/20/11 and have not had time to discuss the bar with the residents of Crescent Oaks. We have a meeting planned on Thursday 6/23/11. Please allow the people of Crescent Oaks time to discuss the proposed bar. We can get a petition started and get the signatures of the Crescent Oaks residents that do not want the bar. I think that you will find out that it will be most of the neighborhood. Please vote no to the application or at least delay the vote and allow Crescent Oaks residents to decide what is needed in our community. I would like to express my opposition to the granting of the license at this location. I live in the adjoining Crescent Oaks neighborhood and have a young family. I am concerned about the traffic and clientele that the business in question would likely draw to the area. Thank you for your consideration in this matter. Thomas Cordle 2934 S. 146 Street Omaha, NE 68144 402-213-9272 • • Dear City Council, I live in Crescent Oaks neighborhood, and was just informed there is a voting on Tuesday, June 21st, to approve a liquor license for a new bar to be located at 2705 S 148th Street. This is in my neighborhood. I have a 5 year old son, and am extremely opposed to having a bar in my neighborhood. I moved into this neighborhood because it is safe and quiet, and little traffic. Never in a million years would I have moved here if there was a bar so close. A bar is going to attract a crowd I don't want to have around my son. Along with a bar comes loud music, increased traffic at all hours of the night/day, and lots of drinking, which makes for an unsafe environment for families and children. I am extremely opposed to this idea. Please take into consideration my family and the family of the others in my neighborhood, and DO NOT approve the liquor license. Thank you. There is very little parking on the property, which will undoubtedly lead to overflow into the adjacent vacant auto dealership. The driveway behind the dealership is essentially invisible from the any street and is already a popular spot for people to drink, create a disturbance, and frequently race. Our house adjoins the dealership and we feel that the bar will only add to the commotion that occurs there. The residential area will also serve as a convenient"back way home"escape route from the bar and we do not welcome the prospect of drunk drivers sneaking through our neighborhood where there are many children.
