Transmitted herewith is a BID TABULATION and a RESOLUTION authorizing the Purchasing
Agent to issue a Purchase Order to Big John Tree Transplanter Manufacturing, Inc. for one (1)
2011 Trailer Mounted Tree Spade, in the total amount of $35,774.00, to be utilized by the
Forestry Division of the Parks, Recreation&Public Property Department.
Low bid from Vermeer did not meet bid specifications on the type of engine required and
G.V.W. rating for the trailer.

The low bid for the Trailer Mounted Tree Spade does not meet specifications. Vermeer had a significant
exception to the specifications. They bid an air cooled gas engine while our specification calls for a liquid
cooled diesel engine. The also bid 8000#trailer when our specification calls for a 10,000#trailer. Before
we can proceed with awarding the bid to the bidder that complies with the specifications, Melinda will need
to send out the attached rejection letter. I've also attached copies of the Vermeer and Big John Tree bids
for your review.

It is the intent of these specifications to describe one new,2011(cc current

materials and workmanship shall be in accordance with the best manufacturing
practices.The tree spade and trailer shalt meet or exceed all EPA,S.A.E.,and
