This plan is required by the Federal Emergency Management Agency in order to obtain funding from several of their mitigation grant programs. The plan was submitted to FEMA in January 2011 and approved pending adoption by the District in February. On July 14, 2011, the District's Board of Directors formally adopted the plan. The city was a participant in the development of the plan. The plan covers the entire jurisdiction. This plan will be an update to the plan approved by the city on August 29, 2006.
