The purpose of the attached Resolution is to suspend the closing hours at the Common Ground
Community Center, 1701 Veterans Drive, Omaha, Nebraska, to accommodate the Boy Scouts
Overnight Lock-In, to be held on Friday, March 7, 2014.
The Director of the Parks, Recreation, and Public Property Department is authorized pursuant to
Section 21-1 of the Omaha Municipal Code to establish rules regulating the use of parks within
the City of Omaha which become binding provisions of the Omaha Municipal Code upon
approval by resolution of the City of Omaha.
Your approval to suspend the hours of operation at the Common Ground Community Center
between 9:00 p.m. on Friday, March 7, 2014 and 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 8, 2014, is
therefore requested.

RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OMAHA:
WHEREAS, the Director of the Parks, Recreation and Public Property
Department is authorized pursuant to Section 21-1 of the Omaha Municipal Code to establish
rules regulating the use of parks within the City of Omaha which become binding provisions of
the Omaha Municipal Code upon approval by resolution of the City Council; and,
WHEREAS, various rules have been so established including rules specifying
closing hours; and,
WHEREAS, the Boy Scouts would like to have an overnight lock-in on Friday,
March 7, 2014, at Common Ground Community Center, 1701 Veterans Drive, Omaha,
Nebraska; and,
WHEREAS, it has been requested that the community center closing hours be
suspended between the hours of 9:00 p.m. on Friday, March 7, 2014 and 6:00 a.m. on Saturday,
March 8, 2014, to accommodate the overnight event; and,
WHEREAS, the Director of the Parks, Recreation and Public Property
Department has approved the suspension of the community center closing hours on those days
only for this event; and,
WHEREAS, the Mayor has recommended approval of this request.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF OMAHA:
THAT, as recommended by the Mayor, the park closing hours will be suspended
at Common Ground Community Center, 1701 Veterans Drive, Omaha, Nebraska, between 9:00
p.m. on Friday, March 7, 2014 and 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 8, 2014, to accommodate the
Boy Scouts Overnight Lock-In.
