The purpose of the attached Resolution is to suspend the closing hours at the Sherman
Community Center, 5701 North 16th Street, to accommodate the Youth Lock-In event for the
Rec's Kids Club on Friday, August 22, 2014.
The Director of the Parks, Recreation, and Public Property Department is authorized pursuant to
Section 21-1 of the Omaha Municipal Code to establish rules regulating the use of parks within
the City of Omaha which become binding provisions of the Omaha Municipal Code upon
approval by resolution of the City of Omaha.
Your approval to suspend the hours of operation at the Sherman Community Center between
9:00 p.m. on Friday, August 22, 2014 and 7:00 a.m. on Saturday August 23, 2014, is therefore
requested.

RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OMAHA:
WHEREAS, the Director of the Parks, Recreation and Public Property
Department is authorized pursuant to Section 21-1 of the Omaha Municipal Code to establish
rules regulating the use of parks within the City of Omaha which become binding provisions of
the Omaha Municipal Code upon approval by Resolution of the City Council; and,
WHEREAS, various rules have been established including rules specifying
closing hours; and,
WHEREAS, the Youth Lock-In event for the Rec's Kids Club will be held on
Friday, August 22, 2014, at the Sherman Community Center, 5701 North 16th Street; and,
WHEREAS, it has been requested that the park closing hours be suspended
between the hours of 9:00 p.m. on Friday, August 22, 2014 and 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, August
23, 2014,to accommodate this overnight event; and,
WHEREAS, the Director of the Parks, Recreation, and Public Property
Department has approved the suspension of the park closing hours on those days only for this
event; and,
WHEREAS, the Mayor has recommended approval of this request.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF OMAHA:
THAT, as recommended by the Mayor, between 9:00 p.m. on Friday, August 22,
2014 and 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 23, 2014, Sherman Community Center, 5701 North 16th
Street, shall be open to accommodate the overnight Youth Lock-In event for the Rec's Kids
Club.
