Koch Trap & Skeet Range, located at 6802 Harrison Street, not to exceed $92,680.20, for the Recreation Division of the Parks, Recreation, and Public Property Department. In May 2014, the Trap & Skeet Division of the City Wide Sports Enterprise Program began operating the Harry A. Koch Trap & Skeet Range. The range was previously contracted out and operated by an independent concessionaire. The previous concessionaire had provided costs and supplier information for clay targets used at the range. From these costs, it was anticipated that the recreational supply costs for targets would not exceed $20,000.00 for the remainder of 2014. This estimate was based on the actual costs of the prior concessionaire, and revenue estimates were expected to be sufficient to cover these costs. To begin operations, an initial clay target order was placed with Sunset Brokerage, a distributor for White Flyer Clay Targets, and a previous vendor for clay targets for the range. In the first four months of operation, the Enteiprise Program has yielded substantially more demand than the previous concessionaire's sales volume. Attendance and sales have exceeded expectations and additional supplies of clay targets are needed to meet that demand. Over 700,000 clay targets have been utilized and the Enterprise has realized over $82,000.00 in revenue from May 1, 2014 to date. City operation of the range has allowed for recreational activities not previously provided directly by the City of Omaha and has been a definite value added service to the trap and skeet shooting community and our customers. The bid for the 2014 Clay Targets was advertised by the City's Purchasing Department and opened for public bid on June 25, 2014 and September 24, 2014 with authorized distributors of Trap & Skeet Range Clay Targets, including Sunset Brokerage, Inc. There were no bids received for these distributors. Section 5.16 of the Home Rule Charter authorizes the Purchasing Department to make purchases in amounts or quantities and for periods specified by Resolution when no bids are received. Page -2- Honorable President and Members of the City Council In order to continue this valuable service to our citizens and visitors and to gather as much data as possible to complete the RFP process, the Recreation Division is seeking authorization to continue purchasing with Sunset Brokerage, Inc. as the supplier of the additional recreational supplies of clay targets needed for the daily operation of the range through the remainder of 2014. Below is a breakdown of recreational supplies of clay target costs we now expect to exceed our initial estimate: Supplier Sunset Brokerage, Inc.
