Transmitted herewith is a Resolution approving an extension of a contract with Spectracom, Inc
dba River City Recycling for the receipt and disposal of household rubbish that is not acceptable
for weekly curbside solid waste collection. The original contract was approved by the City
Council on January 25, 2011 by Ordinance No. 38928.
The original contact provided for two, one-year extensions at the option of the City with
Council's approval. This is the second extension.
The cost for the continuation of this contract with River City Recycling is an estimated $40,000
which will be paid from the General Fund 11111, Solid Waste Collection and Disposal
Organization 116321, year 2015 expenditure.
The Public Works Department requests your consideration and approval of the attached
Resolution.

Dear Scott,
As allowed within the contract agreement, the City of Omaha may extend the
contract agreement beyond the initial term. This contract commenced on
January 1, 2011 with an initial term of three (3) years. Provisions within the
contract allow the City of Omaha to extend the contract for two (2) additional one
(1) year terms at the City's sole discretion.
This letter serves as notice that the City of Omaha will exercise its option to
extend this contract for the second and final - additional one (1) year term. The
term of this extension will commence on January 1, 2015 and proceed through
December 31, 2015.
The Public Works Department, Environmental Quality Division requests a letter
from you stating your desire to extend and continue the service to this contract. I
would like to receive your written reply no later than September 1st 2014.

normal business hours.

RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OMAHA:
WHEREAS, Spectracom, Inc dba River City Recycling was awarded a contract for
receipt and disposal of household rubbish that is not acceptable for weekly curbside solid waste
collection, by Ordinance No. 38928 on January 25, 2011; and,
WHEREAS, this contract provided for the residents of Omaha to dispose of bulky items
not acceptable for curbside collection by utilizing a specified drop off location, for an initial term
ending on December 31, 2013, and included a provision for up to two, one-year extensions at the
option of both parties; and,
WHEREAS, the Public Works Department recommends approval of the second one-year
extension of this contract from January 1, 2015 through December 31, 2015, at an estimated cost
of $40,000 which will be paid from the General Fund 11111, Solid Waste Collection and
Disposal Organization 116321, year 2015 expenditure.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF OMAHA:
THAT, as recommended by the Mayor, the contract with Spectracom, Inc dba River City
Recycling for receipt and disposal of household rubbish that is not acceptable for weekly
curbside solid waste collection, is hereby extended from January 1, 2015 through December 31,
2015.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED:
THAT, the Finance Department is authorized to pay the estimated cost of$40,000 which
will be paid from the General Fund 11111, Solid Waste Collection and Disposal Organization
116321, year 2015 expenditure.
