Biographical Sketch
Rev. Beverly Thompson
Beverly Thompson is the Pastor of START ANEW MINISTRIES, Int'l. She is a licensed
and ordained Minister. The native Omahan is a Former Miss Black Nebraska and daughter
of a powerful Southern Baptist Pastor. Pastor Harbert Stewart was the founder of the
Second Baptist Church, in Omaha,NE. Beverly was raised in the admonition/reverence of
God by Pastor Stewart and First Lady Olivia— who not only taught her the word of God,
but demonstrated how to live a life daily that pleases Him. Wife of City Councilman Dr.
Franklin Thompson, and has four children. She's a Human Resources Professional for
Marriott International, Inc. and a graduate of Clark Atlanta University. Bev's an
Executive Committee Member of ACLC — American Clergy Leadership Conference, and
has ministered in Oklahoma, the Trail of Tears, Seoul South Korea and has returned from
the Holy Land — Israel, as an Ambassador for Peace for the Middle East Peace Initiative.
Bev's a National Pageant Judge & Consultant, and a Life Coach through the American
Association of Christian Counselors. She's a member of the Omaha Women's Chamber of
Commerce, an Ambassador for the "Sweetheart" Program for the American Heart Assn,
Board Member for the "Witness Program" — focusing on Breast and Cervical cancer for
minority women, and a member of organizing group that hosted the Luis Palau Heartland
Festival reaching over 105,000 Souls for God — in the Heartland, to name a few
organizations. Bev has recorded two CD's"Woman of God"and "Ready to Learn". She is
a featured artist with two songs on the "God's Living Water" CD of Nebraska's Leading
artists. Bev has toured nationally with the Sounds of Blackness —in Minneapolis, and has
shared the stage with Dr. Bobby Jones, Donnie McClurkin, Vickie Winans, Yolanda
Adams,Hezekiah Walker and other national artists. Bev is a "Living Legend" in the Great
Plains Black History Museum — NE "In Their Own Image" Book, pg 62 for Nebraska, as
1976 Miss Black NE. As a Woman of God, Beverly's Heart's Desire is to be open to
"whatever" God has in store for her, and believes that her steps are certainly ordered by
God and trusts God's word relaying..."Your latter is greater than your past!"

appointment of members to the Library Board by the Mayor; and,
WHEREAS, Freddie Gray's term on the Library Board expires June 30, 2015; and,
WHEREAS, Mayor Jean Stothert has appointed Beverly A. Thompson to replace
Freddie Gray on the Library Board; said term to commence on July 1, 2015, and expire three years
