Mayor Hal Daub appointed me to the Omaha Public Art Commission in
2000. I have had the pleasure to have worked with mayors Mike Fahey,
Jim Scuttle and Jean Stothert. I have been nominated and confirmed as

Larry Ferguson
Photographer Larry Ferguson is an internationally known artist whose work has been exhibited in more
than 400 galleries and museums and has been published in 50 periodicals and books. His black-and-
white and color images of landscapes,cityscapes and people are widely purchased by galleries,
museums, private individuals and corporate collectors, with his work included in the public collections of
the Joslyn Art Museum,the Society for Contemporary Photography(Kansas City, MO),the Library of
Congress and the Centro Cultural Arte Contemporaneo, A.C. Manuel Alvarez Bravo Collection, Mexico,
among many others.
Ferguson's work has been featured in exhibitions at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis,the Nelson-
Atkins Museum in Kansas City and the Art Institute of Chicago.A recipient of the 2006 Bemis Center For
Contemporary Arts, Community Artist Fellowship Award, the artist had a one-person show, "Antarctica:
Journey& Destination"there in 2006. Ferguson serves as Chairman of the Omaha Public Arts
Commission and is a passionate advocate for arts in the community.
He is perhaps best known for his penetrating black and white portraits and figure works executed in a
direct and insightful style and his intriguing compositions of urban structures won him a Nebraska Arts
Council artist fellowship in 1996. His current body of color work examines the marketing and placement
of food items at their point of purchase with a special emphasis on the product"SPAM."

RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OMAHA:
WHEREAS, Section 27-121, et seq. of the Omaha Municipal Code provides for
the creation and operation of the Public Art Commission; and,
WHEREAS, Larry S. Ferguson served on the Public Art Commission in the
position of visual artist; and,
WHEREAS, Mayor Jean Stothert desires to reappoint Larry S. Ferguson, as a
visual artist of the Public Art Commission, to serve commencing upon confirmation by the City
Council and said term expiring three years later.
